Hi folks,
I'm trying to start an AD+D group going (second edition.... unless anyone really wants first). I plan on starting players at level one....I had a great laugh with this campaign when I ran it for four players a few years ago.... I am a fairly gentle DM so novices will be OK...... unless you do anything really dumb in which case you're dead and I laugh a lot....

AD&D has been mentioned before and I think you may get a few players playing it..
Best thing to do is run it alternative sundays to the traveller RPG as traveler is running once a month.
See you on the next meeting and we can discuss it and maybe find you a few players.

Sorry Garth, Didn't know we could only have one RPG going at one time.
I'll know to ask your permission next time !!!
Last month 2 people were told the Traveller game was going to start and turned up only to be left twiddling their thumbs. I stepped in at no notice and tried to give them something to do. Do you seriously expect me to wait another session before starting something ? As far as I'm concerned I was going to run something every session (I don't think 4 hours per month is very good for role-playing).

I think theres room for more than one rpg campain if theres alot of rpgers, But i dont know if there is that many at the club at the mo, cos ive just join it! I said i would play traveler, but if there is a AD&D game im in ( sorry The Guv but AD&D is great & i dont know traveler that well). All i can say is let the players decide and see what happens, hopfully there is room for both!

Personally i have no problem in how many RPG are running at one time. The only down point is that I cant take part in all of them.
Jim, I fully appreciate your willingness to step in at the last moment and I think you did a grand job running an RPG at such short notice.
However i think its best to have two good RPGs running on alternative fortnights with 5 or 6 people taking part in each, rather than two RPGs running we have two people over here and two people over there.
Of course if we suddenly get an influx of RPGers then great but at present we only have a few RPGers, and as such what we dont want to spread ourselves too thin. Much better i think to have two good games going (One running each alternative fortnight) rather than having two poorly attended games going (each fortnight)
Please remember that the club has only been going for three sessions and sometimes it takes a while to get things off the ground. I believe there was some talk of having a schedule showing what was being played on what Sunday and by who. This may be being worked on at the moment.
To be honest when the traveller RPG was mentioned starting earlier in the month I actually stated at the time that I didnt know where that had come from because I believed it was starting the end of July and had always been planned to start then.
But anyway, as a club i'm sure we will attract more RPGers and when it does I shall look forward into taking part in as many games as i can.

FYI - The start date for the Trav game has always been the end of July. I also have no idea where the false dates came from, but no matter - water, bridge, under etc.
It has taken me this long to write the campaign and pay for the books. (Damn you Mongoose!)
But if people prefer the D&D option, and we don't have enough players to do justice to both, I can put a hold on the campaign for now. I was looking for between 5 and 8 players to make the games work (think the crew of the Serenity here and you won't go far wrong folks).
Unfortunately I can only guarantee to be free once per month due to wife/kids/re-enacting/airsofting etc.etc. (ain't life grand?)
If 4 hours per month is not what the club and players are looking for, let me know. I'm happy either way - life's too short etc. I don't have a high horse to get on, just a small mule!
Peace. Guv. | |

Personally I'm prepared to give anything a try, AD&D is what I remember from childhood but it's been so long I'm going to be a novice at all of them. I'll come along next meeting and play whatevers going; but looking at the forum it does look as though we only have about 3 players committed for the 26th, I'll leave it to those older and wiser than I [grovel grovel] to decide what we play. as long as its something! :roll:Sorry Garth, you're starting to sound like a LARPer, I didn't realise that I had to watch my words so closely. I'll be more careful in the future. Emma

Cheers Guv,
One of the main things I want to do is try to encourage as many role-players through the doors as possible. I see giving people the option of at least two distinctly different settings as a good start. Hopefully if we all spread the word there will be enough players for all. I understand the time pressure from family (3 dustbin lids myself) but I don't want you to postpone your start if possible. If people have signed up for Traveller then they really should at least give it a go!
